Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
Undercurrent Analytics helps you understand how people use your mobile app. That means we handle data on your behalf. Our responsibility is to properly secure the event data that you send to us. This page provides accurate, simple explanations about the data we collect. If you have any questions or clarifications, contact us by emailing robmoore121+undercurrentprivacy@gmail.com.
Who this applies to
There are two kinds of people whose data we touch:
- Our customers: App developers and teams who use Undercurrent Analytics for their apps. We store and process event data sent by their apps.
- App users: The people using an app that sends events to Undercurrent. We process their event data on behalf of our customers; our customers decide what gets sent.
What we collect
When you visit this website. We don't run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking on it - and these are practices that we generally avoid.
When you sign up. Your email address, plus basic technical details that come with any web request (your browser's user agent and the country your request originated from). We use these to create and secure your account and to get in touch with you, specifically about your project and our service. We never share this with others.
Events your app sends us. When you integrate Undercurrent Analytics into your app, your app sends us the events you choose to track e.g. that a button was tapped, along with whatever custom properties you attach and a distinct user identifier that you define. We store and process this data so you can query and analyze it. You control what goes into each event.
What we don't collect
We only ask for what we need to run the service. We never sell your data or your users' data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't use it to build profiles of people across other apps or sites. We don't try to collect more about your users than the events you deliberately send us. The reason Undercurrent Analytics exists is to help App developers create better apps for people. We aren't interested in making money for its own sake - your trust matters to us much more than that.
A note on sensitive data. Because you decide what your events contain, avoid sending us data you don't need, and in particular avoid sending passwords, payment details, health information, or any other sensitive personal data (see: GDPR Article 9). Restrict the personal data in your events to what is useful to you for understanding your users and how they use your app.
How we use data
- To provide the analytics service: Ingesting, storing, querying your event data, and providing visualizations of it.
- To run and protect your account, and to prevent abuse.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
- To improve our service.
That's it. We don't repurpose your data to make extra money on the side. Our only income is made by providing App developers with a simple and effective mobile analytics service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account with us. We keep your event data so it remains available for you to analyze. When you close your project, or ask us to remove specific data, we delete it. If you'd like a different retention arrangement for your project, just ask. If you'd like to delete a subset of data, we can do that too (and if you're a paying customer, we can build a way for you to do that yourself).
How to exercise your rights over your data
You and the people who use your apps have rights over personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, export it, or have it deleted. We're set up to honour those requests.
If you want to know what we hold, change it, export it, or have it removed, contact us at robmoore121+undercurrentprivacy@gmail.com, and we'll sort it out for you. If an app user contacts us directly, we'll point them to you so you can help them out, unless they truly need our help directly.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to how we handle data, we'll update this page and, where it matters, let you know directly. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
